Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has said that she was not in the PML-N which voted to extend the tenure of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
A two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court heard the Avonfield reference appeals while PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Safdar appeared in the court. Both hired senior lawyer Irfan Qadir to follow. Ata Tarar asked the court to grant him four weeks respite. The NAB prosecutor objected to the request for respite and said that adjournment was being sought repeatedly in this case. The court granted the plea and adjourned the case till October 6.
In an informal conversation in the court room, Maryam Nawaz said that the chairman would give his reaction if the expansion of NAB was formally announced. It is the policy of the government to remove the role of opposition from NAB and put the brothers of government ministers. Talking about electronic voting is a fraudulent plan, what has transparency got to do with a government based on fraud? Even after four years, the government has to resort to fraud.
The journalist asked that an extension was given earlier. Now what will the chairman say about it being given to NAB? In reply, Maryam Nawaz said that she did not share in the sin of the first extension. The journalist asked, but the PML-N had voted. Maryam Nawaz replied that I was not in that PML-N.
