The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has imposed a new tax of Rs 600 on tickets for air travelers across the country, including Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.
An additional Rs 600 will be charged before the journey on a ticket purchased before May 17. A security fee of Rs 100 and an embarkation fee of Rs 500 will be charged on the ticket. Tickets purchased after May 17 include additional taxes.
Passengers say it is unfair to impose a tax of Rs 600 on a pre-purchased air ticket and how can additional charges be levied on a pre-purchased ticket. On the other hand, PIA has started two weekly flights from Karachi to Zhob.
According to PIA spokesman Abdullah Khan, the first flight left Karachi for Zhob on Tuesday morning. An inaugural ceremony was held at Jinnah International Airport Karachi before the departure of the flight and the cake was cut. PIA thanked Air Marshal Arshad Malik and the airline management.
