NEPRA has started preparations to shift the burden of Rs 91.36 billion on power consumers.

NEPRA, headed by Chairman Tauseef Farooqi, held a hearing in NEPRA on the requests of two quarterly adjustments of power companies for the current financial year.

The power companies requested consumers to collect Rs 44.70 billion for the first quarter adjustment. Consumers were requested to collect Rs 46.65 billion for the second quarter adjustment. Discus officials said the extra money was sought for payments, operations and maintenance, including electricity losses.
Chairman NEPRA Tauseef Farooqi asked what steps are being taken to reduce line losses. Power companies should give plans to reduce line losses.

NEPRA completed the hearing on the request of the power companies on which a decision will be issued later.
